What a precious soul.  I've known Paul for most of my life.   He was my amazing 5th grade teacher who was kind and concerned about each child and we all loved him.   He was also a beloved member of my church family for decades at Church of the Ascension.   My condolences to the family on the loss of this special man and patriarch.  Peace be with you.

I am very saddened to hear of Paul's passing. I taught fifth grade with Paul for several years and our rooms were next door to one another. We had great times together. We shared a lot of teaching ideas together.
His spirit will be missed. My thoughts, prayers and heart go to his family.  Pete DiMaio

Paul was a dedicated teacher, valued member of the fifth grade team and dear friend. Gini and his sons were his world and he kept us up-to-date on your marriages, children and events of your lives. This time of loss is very sad, but happy memories of our time working together bring a smile to my heart. He was a man of many talents and he generously shared his joy, zest for life and light to those of us privileged to know him.  Paul will be deeply missed. My sincere condolences and sympathy are with your family.  Sincerely, Judy (Gerhart) Benne

My condolences to the family. Paul and I started teaching together at Octorara although I was 20 years younger. I always enjoyed talking with him. After I retired I enjoyed RVing and saw Paul calling Bingo numbers at one of the rallies. In the past years I liked seeing the post on Facebook during family gatherings. He will be missed.

Mr Bennethum was one of my all time favorite teachers. We've exchanged Christmas cards every year, and I always looked forward to his notes to see how he and his family were doing. I will greatly miss those correspondences with him. He made a great impact on my life and so many others. What a joy that he is not suffering and is reunited with the love of his life. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. He was a great person and will be greatly missed.

My deepest sympathy to all of Paul's family. May the memories of the happy times give you the strength needed during this difficult period. I was very lucky to have known Paul because he was my Scoutmaster in Parkesburg at Troop 217. His dedication and leadership in the BSA helped me reach the rank of Eagle Scout and I will never forget him because of it. God Bless and stay strong!!!!

My sincere condolences to the Bennethum family.  I just heard the news today.  I had the privilege of having Mr. Bennethum for homeroom in 5th grade for the 1975-1976 school year.  He was one of my favorite teachers at Octorara.  He made an impact on my life in so many ways.  I will always remember him for teaching us to respect the American flag and for teaching us all of the patriotic songs.  Still to this day, I think of him when I hear one.  In fact, I just mentioned him on the 4th of July as I was singing songs with my nieces & nephews.  Rest In Peace!
