Joseph G. Hopton, 68, of Coatesville, PA, passed away on August 13, 2026, at the King of Prussia Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he had been a resident for two and a half years following a period of serious illness.
Joe was born in Coatesville on March 15, 1958, and was the son of the late James F. Hopton and Mary R. Catanese Hopton. He was a 1977 graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High School.
Joe had a lifelong passion for photography. From the 1980s through the mid-1990s, he worked as a freelance photographer for the Coatesville Record, and photography remained a hobby he enjoyed throughout most of his life. Before his illness, Joe was employed for many years at Positran Manufacturing, Norristown, PA.
Joe will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of Pink Floyd and the Philadelphia Eagles, his beautiful photography, and his affection for his beloved cat, Kit-Ten.
Most of all, he will be remembered for the kind words and affection he showed to those who knew and loved him.
In memory of Joe, listen to some Pink Floyd and think of him with a smile.
He is survived by his brother, Kenneth J. Hopton of Coatesville, PA; his sister, Carole A. DiMeglio of Tacoma, WA; nieces Autumn Hopton and her children and grandchildren of Frankfort, KY, and Paigia Curry and her daughter of Lancaster County, PA; nephew Nicholas Hopton of Exton, PA; and his cousins and close friends.
