Rachel J. Kurtz passed away peacefully into God's presence on July 22, 2026, having lived a long and meaningful life. Born on May 2, 1919, Rachel’s journey through more than a century was marked by strength, resilience, and dignity.

Rachel’s enduring spirit was evident in the grace with which she carried herself through the changing times and challenges that each new decade brought. She touched those who knew her with her quiet wisdom and steadfast character, leaving a legacy defined by kindness and integrity.

My mom had worked at various occupations but her longest was that in the food service as a server in local restaurants. She had worked at the diner in Downing town where the movie, “The Blob” was filmed and also the historic Ingleside Diner which was retired to St. Louis in 2003.

My mom loved being with people. I think that's why she loved being a food server. She seemed to get along with everybody. She taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church in Coatesville as well as Pioneer Girls there as well when I was young. That's where she taught me how to sew by hand.

Though others in our family may have known her in different ways, her dedication to her family defined her life. In my own corner of the world, her loss creates an emptiness that can never be filled. Rachel’s memory will be cherished by all who were privileged to know her. She will be remembered with warm affection and deep respect, honoring a life well-lived.

She is survived by Joyce A. Rowland of Leola, Pa., Lynda C. Manley of Thorndale, Pa., and Brenda L. Marciniszyn of New Castle, De.
