Brian Gilbert, 61, of Coatesville, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the Pembrooke Health and Rehab Center in West Chester, PA. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Marcus W. Gilbert Jr. and Barbara A. Schmidt Gilbert.

Brian was an area resident all his life and a 1980 graduate of the Coatesville Area Senior High School. He was employed, for over 35 years, as the warehouse manager at Lipkins Furniture Store of Coatesville, PA. He lived above the Coatesville Flower Shop and became friends with everyone there. He would always entertain them with his lighthearted whit. Anyone who knew Brian, can attest to his easy-going spirit. He loved to play cards and spent many Saturday nights playing poker with family and friends. 

He is survived by three brothers: Marcus W. Gilbert III, and wife Carrie of Coatesville, Edgar Gilbert of Coatesville, and Stacey Gilbert of Coatesville. Nieces and nephews
Rebecca and Joshua Gilbert, and Jonathen, Corey and Jessica Gilbert 

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be a Celebration of Life to be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made directly to the Wilde Funeral Home in Brian's name.

My condolences to the family, I had the pleasure of working with Brian at Lipkins, he was always very detailed at his job and treated us all with respect. He will be missed by all that knew him.

My family and I were very saddened to hear of the passing of my cousin Brian Gilbert. I will always remember the fun times we had as kids. Brian was always a sweet person. Rest in Peace my dear cousin. To the family I wish to send my deepest sympathy for this great loss.

Brian Gilbert was a valued employee of Lipkin’s Furniture Srore in Coatesville for over 35 years. He was promoted from driver to warehouse manager because of his attention to detail, his leadership ability and his unique way of relating to management and customers alike. His good humor and loyalty were especially valued during the time of declining of one of the owners. He was very much appreciated.

I was so sorry to hear that Brian passed away, and was immediately taken back to the days of the Illes-Gilbert-Spotts get togethers.  i remember the days and the people with great fondness, and it makes me smile when I recall the three Gilbert brothers, the nicknames you had, and the fun we all shared.  Our parents were all great friends, and our generation was naturally drawn into the friendships.  Those memories are dear to me, as are the people who shared them, and I'm so very sorry for your loss.
