David W. Lindstrom, 85, of Cochranville, PA, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 21, 2025. He was the husband of Diane (Dawson) Lindstrom for over 47 years. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Dave was the son of the late Louise McGovern. He grew up in the Philadelphia area and graduated from Interboro High School and Villanova University (B.S. in Business Administration). He received a postgraduate degree from the Graduate School of Savings Banking at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
Dave began his career in community banking at First Pennsylvania Bank and Trust Company, where he held numerous positions before moving to Western Savings Bank in Philadelphia, where he rose to the level of Vice President. In February 1981, he joined Franklin Savings Bank in Salem, NJ (now Franklin Bank in Pilesgrove NJ), and in March 1985 he was named President/CEO and Director. Dave was an active member of the New Jersey League of Community Bankers where he served on the Board of Governors from 1985-1998, and served as Chairman of the Board of Governors from May 1990- May 1991. He was elected to the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York in 2003, and during his tenure he served as Vice Chairman and then Chairman of the Board. He was also a director on the Board of Pentegra Services, Inc. Dave was active in his banking community, participating and holding leadership positions in the Salem Rotary Club, Greater Salem County Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity, American Cancer Society, and the Philadelphia Federal Reserve Thrift Council. He retired from banking in 2008.
Dave enjoyed woodworking, traveling, skiing, reading and bicycling. He loved all dogs and had a dog almost all his life. He never met a dog he didn’t like or try to make friends with.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his cousins: Ellen R. Muenzen, Dennis and Andrea Rittenhouse, and Frank McGovern; his sister-in-law and brother-in law: Barbara and Vince Brown; his nieces: Kathleen Brown, Laura Brunett and her husband Dylan Brunett; and last, but not least, his beloved dog: Molly.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. from the Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg, PA, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in Edgewood Memorial Park in Glen Mills at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to All4Paws Rescue, West Grove Fire Company Ambulance or the charity of your choice.
