Allen L. Brown, Jr., 75, of Atglen, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Hospice Center of Lancaster County in Mt. Joy. 

 
He was the husband of Edythe Sue Simmons Brown with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Sadsburyville, he was the son of the late Allen L. Brown, Sr. and Florence Leighton Randler and he was raised by his grandmother, Mabel Leighton.  
 
Allen was a 1953 graduate of the Parkesburg High School. An area resident all his life, he owned and operated Allen's Luncheonette in Atglen from 1961 to 1974 and Friendly's Tavern in Christiana from 1974 to 1988. He was a founding organizer of the Octorara Soccer Club and had served as the organizations' first treasurer. 
 
He was Past President of the Christiana Baseball Assoc. and had served as Vice President for the LanCo Midget League. He also helped for many years as time keeper for Octorara High School sports. Allen was a member of the Faith Community United Methodist Church where he had served as a Trustee and cemetery sexton.
 
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by one son Allen "Lennie" Brown, III, and wife Ellen, of Atglen, two granddaughters Paige and Meghan Brown of Atglen and seven siblings, Francis Brown, Ed and Pat Randler, Judy Poletti, Joanne Butler, Jeanette Clifford and Flossie Wolfsperger. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Harper. 
 
The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 27th at 11 a.m. at the Faith Community UMC, 332 Chester St., Atglen, Pa., followed by interment in the Sadsbury Friends Burial Grounds in Christiana.  Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will take place on both Sunday evening, June 26th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg and again on Monday morning at the Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.  
 
Memorial donations may be made in Allen's memory to the Hospice of Lancaster County, P. O. Box 4125, Lancaster, Pa. 17604.

Dear Sue sorry to hear about Brownie he a great person alway a friend indeed. browinie and I go back along way to parkesburg when we would visit the parkesburg news always had a smile for everyone I know he will be sadly missed.

I am so sorry to hear that Brownie has passed on. He is in a better place. Please accept my most sincere condolences for your loss, Sue and for all who have lost such a great family man. I will always remember all the great times we spent with you and Brownie. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
