John D. "Jack" Mowday Sr., 88, of Honeybrook, PA, went to his eternal home with the Lord on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. He was a faithful husband to Ruth I. Smith Mowday for over 66 years and a wonderful father and Pop Pop. Born in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of the late Sanford and Ethel Leslie Mowday.
An area resident all his life, Jack was a self-employed owner and operator of Jack's Painting for over 72 years and reluctantly retired at 85 years old. He ran Jack Mowday's School of Painting where he mentored many young men in the field. He was a hard worker and had a great work ethic which he passed on to his children and grand children.
He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Pomeroy, PA, where he served as a Trustee.
Jack's passions were hunting, fishing and gardening which he loved to do with his children and grandchildren. He grew his own tomatoes from seeds and always planted them on May 9th (his birthday).
Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Vicky Mullen and John D. Jr. of Honey Brook, PA, Joseph M. (Jackie) Mowday of Coatesville, Kimberly Anderson of Paradise, PA, 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Nancy Umile.
He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers - Pat Mowday, Ethel Neff, Margaret Neff, Joe, Howard and Sanford Jr; Son-in-laws - Mike Mullen and Robert Anderson and grandson Mike Mullen.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. from the Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg, PA, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Upper Octorara Cemetery in Parkesburg.
