Like so many in the WCU community, I was so shocked to learn of Al's untimely passing.  I knew him as a kind, caring, and dedicated individual who modeled the way for so many around him.

Thoughts, prayers, and strength heading your family's way.

Dear Alison and Family-

We in the Chemistry Department at WCU are so very sorry for your loss. Al was a good friend to us and was a wonderful source of computer support for all of our Tech Fee projects. We could always count on him to come over promptly and help us with any problems we had, and his sense of humor always brightened our day! He was so helpful to me personally several years ago when I suffiered a catastrophic loss of my computer data, and could not have been nicer about helping me to get back on track. I will always be grateful to him (and his colleague Bob) for that!! He was a special guy and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts are with all of you during the difficult time.

Melissa

I first met Al when he was a student back in 2000 and I was the dietitian at the WCU's Student Health Center.  He was so friendly and kind.  Over the years, I became a nutrition professor and he got a job in the IT dept.  He solved multiple computer/data problems for myself and our department.  I saw Al all the time walking to/from classes and he always had a minute to stop and chat, or at least smile and wave hello.  I am so sorry to hear of his passing and I will think of him often and really, truly miss him.
