Samuel J. Smith, 81, of Parkesburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Tel Hai Retirement Community.  He was the beloved husband of Mildred S. (Swyderski) Smith with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.  

Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Walter P. and Alma (Wilson) Smith.  

Sam was a 1953 graduate of Parkesburg High School.  

He retired from Lukens Steel as a Furnace Operator, having worked there for 44 years.

He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Consolation Church.  

Samuel is survived by his four children, Leslie Enochs, wife of Harry, of Parkesburg, Jeffrey Smith of Gap, Kathleen Kendig, wife of James, of Merritt Island, Fl., and David Smith of Parkesburg; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and siblings, Edwin Smith of Fort Worth, Tx., and Joan S. Moore of Christiana.  He was predeceased by his grandson, James Marple and brothers, Parvin W. and Donald G. Smith.  

The Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 28th at 11 AM at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 W 2nd Ave, Parkesburg, PA 19365 followed by interment in Parkesburg Catholic Cemetery. Visitation at the Church from 9:30 until 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Consolation Church at the above address.

My prayers and thoughts are with your family. Sam was a special man, even though I have not know him for long. Mildred your eyes just shine with the love that the two of you shared for the past 60 years. You were a very devoted wife and can take pride that you honored his wishes and did all that you could for him. Your smiling face will be missed around Tel Hai.

​Mildred. Vivian and I are sorry to here your loss of Sam. I knew Sam almost from year one. One of the most gentle persons I've have known. We will be at the funeral on Wednesday.
