Richard Allen Ruth, 79, formerly of East Fallowfield, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 19th, surrounded by his family at Neighborhood Hospice of West Chester.  

He was the beloved husband of Sara A. (Miller) Ruth, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.  

Born in Atglen, Richard was the son of the late Roberta L. (States) and Joseph C. Ruth.  He was a graduate of S. Horace Scott High School, Coatesville.  Richard served honorably in the US Air Force.  He was a member of the Parkesburg Sportsmen's Club, Axe Grinders Club and the Masonic Lodge.

Richard was a proud member of Mt. Zion AME Church, serving as Vice Chair of the Trustee Board, Church Treasurer, Men's Choir and on the Transportation Committee. 

He had worked for Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Co., was an Independent Trucker, worked for Sellers Trucking of Unionville and retired from Earth Grow Corp in Toughkenamon, Pa.  

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by his daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Edwin Hall of Hampton, Va.; two granddaughters, Myah S. Cooper of Philadelphia, Pa., and Cire’ L. West-Cooper of Hampton, Va; one great granddaughter, Cierra M. Johnson of Philadelphia, Pa; one sister, Gwendolyn M. Dickinson of Coatesville, Pa.; one special cousin/"brother", Melvin “June” States of Mattapan, Mass; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister: Delores Jane Ruth Jackson. 

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 11 AM at Mt. Zion AME Church, 404 Zion Hill Rd, Atglen, PA 19310, followed by interment in Church of Christ Cemetery of East Fallowfield.  The viewing will be from 9 until 11 AM.

Memorial Donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.

Richard was a big part of my family my entire life.  I asked Ellsworth about him earlier this month during my visit.  He certainly left a legacy of friendship, dedication to his church and service to the community!  Love to Sissy and Gwen and June!

The Denson family, sends our condolences to Gwen, Mrs. Sara Ruth and the entire Ruth family. Mr. Richard was a very nice and sweet man. I personally will miss him when I come to Mt. Zion and will see him with that smile of his, shaking my hand as we hugged and hear him saying Hi Janet how are you. Well, we all know he is doing well in the arms of our Savior and he is sure doing better than all of us. Thankful that I knew him and my father remembering him. Love and Blessings to you Gwen!
