Joseph Hoffman Morris of Rock Hall, MD, formerly of Sadsburyville, PA, passed away surrounded by his family on March 30, 2018.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Terre Holt Morris, a daughter, Heather M. Wright, wife of Craig G. Wright of Coatesville, PA, one granddaughter, Arden Alexis Wright of New York and daughter-in-law Amanda Reid Morris of Lewes, DE.  

A son, Capt. Joseph Hoffman Morris, Jr., predeceased him.
 
He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Gunnar W. Zorn and a brother, Ivan S. Morris, Jr.

He was the son of the late Ivan Schober Morris and Clara Hoffman Morris who lived in Sadsburyville, PA.  

Mr. Morris graduated from S. Horace Scott Senior High School, class of 1947 and from Franklin and Marshall College class of 1951.  He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity.

Joe lived in Baltimore and while working for the Davidson Chemical Company, Division of WR Grace and Co., he studied at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.  

Upon returning to the Coatesville Area, he was employed by Lukens Steel Company as Supervisor of the Chemical Laboratory where he worked for 38 years.  He served on the ASTM and AISI Committees.

Joe was involved in many community activities including the building committee for the Michael Margolies Library as well as the renovation and building committees for Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church where he was a life-long member.  He was elected to the Coatesville District School Board and served on the planning commission of Sadsbury Township. He was a member of both Sadsburyville and Rock Hall Volunteer Fire companies.  

For many years he owned and operated the Joseph H. Morris Custom Picture Framing Co.  Joe enjoyed building and working with wood.  He designed and built their first home in Sadsburyville and has crafted many beautiful pieces for his wife and family. He also was the main architect and builder of their home and guest house in Rock Hall, MD.

Joe loved his family and spent many happy hours with them piloting his beloved motor yacht the “Mor Fun VI” on the Chesapeake Bay and surrounding waters.  He also loved to fish with his son on his fishing boat on the Delaware River.

Joe's funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 11 AM at Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church, Parkesburg, PA.  There will be no viewing, and the interment will be private.

I was so blessed to have met this man and be involved with the family. I had been able to witness the love that Terri and Joe had for each other.  Praying and thinking of you all that God will wrap you in his arms!
