John N. Thompson, Jr.

Dec 24 1968
Jan 5 2022
53 Years
Cochraville, Pennsylvania

John N. Thompson, Jr., 53 of Cochranville, passed away on January 5, 2022 under the care of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.  He was the beloved husband of Rhonda L. (Thomas) Thompson, with whom he shared nearly 30 years of marriage.

Born in Jennersville, PA, John was the son of the late John N. Thompson, Sr and Lois L. (Mayberry) Thompson.

John was a 1988 graduate of Octorara Area School District.  He worked as an industrial weed controller for Weeds, Inc. of Aston, Pa for 25 years.  He attended Wesley Church, where he was involved in the Celebrate Recovery Program and was proud to have 14 years of sobriety.

John enjoyed hunting deer and fishing in the Octoraro Lake.  John liked to cook and eat.  He recently won the family wing off contest and was more than willing gloat to those who lost. He made a delicious coconut custard pie.  John only owned Chevrolets, which mostly included Silverados and a 1973 Camaro.  He was a fan of the Phillies, Eagles and Flyers.

He made nearly perfect mowing lines in his yard.  He loved to make people laugh.  And enjoyed his four-legged friends, "Jaxson" and "Opie".

In addition to Rhonda, John is survived by Courtney L. Mellinger, wife of Dustin of Milford Nebraska; one grandson on the way; and siblings, Eric S. Thompson, husband of Tammy, of Christiana, PA, and Kristin S. Merritt, wife of Sean of Stuart, FL.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 15th, 2022 at 11 AM at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, with a viewing at the funeral home from 9 AM until 11 AM.

A true friend [13]

Iv known John Rhonda since high school. John was one of my best friends we hunted fished and sometimes even got a bit drunk together. My entire family was very saddened and shocked. The memories I have with John and the stories I could tell would have us both laughing. He was a awesome man and a awesome friend that would drop what he was doing and be there for you. I will greatly miss this man a true friend father husband and grandfather. Gods speed John..

Rhonda and Family ... What a [16]

Rhonda and Family ... What a blessing it was to be able to watch the service for John while in my home in Georgia.  Although I didn't know John (his mother-in-law is my cousin), my heart goes out to Rhonda and Courtney in the loss of their husband/father.  I'm sending prayers for peace and comfort as they both continue to move on with their lives and adjust to their new normal, without John, while holding on to the wonderful memories they have of him.  May God bless John's family at this difficult time.

Our Deepest Sympathy To Rhonda & Family [17]

I have known Rhonda and John since our high school years. He was such a great guy and you two made an awesome couple. I've enjoyed giving Rhonda a hard time over the years.  I always said John was a Saint and husband of the year for dealing with Rhonda. Of course Rhonda would start yelling back right away. Lol. Our hearts break for your loss. It's hard for us all to wrap our heads around things like this but one day it be clear why things happen the way they do.
Condolences from the Groff Family!
