Violet B. Brooks, 85, of Landenberg, PA, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side at their home on Thursday, July 2, 2026. She was the wife of the late James (Jimmy) Lee Brooks. They were married in 1962. Born in Lansing, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Bernice Hurley.

Violet grew up in North Carolina and later moved to Chester County where she was employed in the mushroom industry as a box maker. She worked at Kennett Mushroom Cannery in Kennett Square, PA, from 1964 and retired in 2003.

Violet was a Southern Christian woman and she was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Kennett Square, PA and more recently attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Avondale with her daughter.

She is survived by one daughter Wanda Lee Soto, three great grandchildren; Veronika Soto, Kristi Viers and Nathon Viers, one great great granddaughter and three siblings; Ernest Hurley, Wayne Hurley and Peg Johnson all of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by one grandson Alberto "Berto" Soto and three siblings; Bruce Hurley, Rodney Hurley and Grace Miller.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA with viewing and visitation from 2:00 PM to the time of the service. Interment will be private.
