Thomas Searl, 76, of Atglen, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 25, 2026.
Tom was a lifelong resident of Atglen and a familiar presence throughout the community. Nearly everyone in town knew Tom — whether from his daily walks, his love of conversation, or his deep knowledge of sports trivia. If you had a question about the Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, or Flyers, Tom almost certainly had the answer.
He was the son of the late Charles Searl and Phyllis (Potts) Searl. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Laura Searl.
Tom worked for many years as a dishwasher at the Coatesville VA Medical Center, retiring in 2004. He was a longtime member of Atglen United Methodist Church.
He loved reading his daily newspaper, keeping up with his teams, and sharing sports facts with anyone who would listen. He enjoyed his cats and treasured his daily walks around town. Trips to Ocean City, New Jersey, to spend time with his sister were especially meaningful to him. Tom also loved good food and was always thankful when friends and neighbors thought of him during cookouts and gatherings.
Tom is survived by his niece, Heather Olson (Charles) of Elkridge, Maryland, and his nephew, Keith Ickes of Paradise, Pennsylvania.
Tom will be remembered for his love of sports, his routines, and the unmistakable presence he carried in the town he called home.
A memorial gathering may be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, raise a glass, cheer for the Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, or Flyers, and enjoy a plate of good food in Tom’s memory.
