Theodore R. Stetler, 94, of Coatesville, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Freedom Village. He was the husband of Bertha Barr Stetler, who died in 2020.
Ted was born on his mother's birthday, May 27, 1931, in Lancaster, PA, to the late Theodore F. Stetler and Lillian M. Evans. He was a 1949 graduate of Oxford High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and was stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.
Ted was employed for 30 years by Lukens Steel Company in Coatesville. He began working in the mill following four years as a plumber with Gilbert & Son of Coatesville and his service in the U.S. Army. He was promoted to the Metallurgy Department and retired in 1982. He was an active member of Hope Fellowship Church in Coatesville.
Ted leaves his steadfast, supportive ways and his quiet sense of humor to be remembered by his three beloved daughters: Deborah Davis of Forest, VA; Laurie (Paul DeAngelis) Showers of Malvern, PA and Cynthia (Richard) Terry of Perkasie, PA; three grandchildren: Wayne (Danielle) Terry of Doylestown, PA; Kristen (Cory) Walter and Stephen Terry, both of Perkasie, PA; seven great-grandchildren: Josie, Nick, Daphne, Nora and Penny Terry; Xander and Sydney Walter. He is also survived by five loving stepchildren: Catherine (Edward) Dazio of Downingtown, PA; Anna (Martin) Krivulka of SC; Linda Doyle of Parkesburg, PA; Donna (Terry) Thompson of Coatesville, PA and Donald (Jodie) Barr, Jr. of Gordonville, PA; two step brother-in-laws: Albert (Shirley) Jones of Lake Mary, FL and Walter J. (Susan) Jones of East Earl, PA; ten step grandchildren and twelve step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandson: Trent Terry; two sisters: Wanda Lefever and Rebecca Harkins; stepdaughter: Patty Plank; son-in-law: Bobby Davis; step son-in-law: William Doyle, Sr.; six step-sibling-in-laws: Helen, Catherine, Walter C., Lester, Clayton and John; and his former wife and mother of his children: Muriel June McClure.
Throughout his life, Ted enjoyed spending time with his family, pitching for local softball teams, woodworking, gardening, country music and traveling. He also loved watching the Phillies and Little League World Series, as well as the birds and creatures in his backyard. In 1955, he and his father built the family home in East Fallowfield Township, where he lived until June of this year. Ted will be dearly missed and remembered as a quiet Christian gentleman.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Pequea Presbyterian Church, 273 Cambridge Road, Gap, PA 17527. Visitation will be at the church from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Inurnment will follow in the adjoining cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ted may be made to Hope Fellowship Church (395 Madison St., Coatesville , PA 19320) or Tunnel to Towers Foundation (2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306).
