Shirley Ann Hilton

October 3, 1940 — September 4, 2025

Shirley Ann Hilton, a 84-year-old resident of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Pocopson Nursing Home in West Chester, Pennsylvania. She was the wife of the late Robert Hilton Jr., who passed away in 2024. Born at home in Caln, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Myrtle (Heuyard) Guest.

Shirley “Mom-Mom” Hilton was a member of King’s Way Independent Church in Sadsburyville, Pennsylvania. She also worked as a machine operator for over 25 years at Penquin.

Mom-Mom cherished her family and pets, and spending quality time with them was her greatest joy. She was always a vibrant and lively person, and anyone who had the chance to meet her knew it. Mom-mom enjoyed Christmas time with family; especially those years spent with her sister Joan and niece Debbie. Mom-Mom particularly loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially her granddaughters.

Mom-Mom had a variety of hobbies. She enjoyed drawing/coloring, cooking and baking (especially her homemade Christmas potato candy), shopping, especially at Green Dragon or Downingtown Farmers’ Market, roller skating at the Caln Roller Skating rink, music , dancing and visiting the Strasburg Railroad. Weekends at her house were filled with love, laughter, and excitement, often accompanied by BBQs in the backyard. T.G.I.F. started weekends at mom-moms with Friday night TV and family game night. Mom-Mom found immense happiness in simply being with her family.

Every Sunday, Mom-Mom made sure to prepare a delicious Sunday dinner and pray for her family. She believed that Sundays were God’s day and dedicated them to her loved ones.

Mom-Mom’s final days were spent not only with her family and friends at Pocopson, but she also enjoyed going out with her granddaughter Stacey on car rides, shopping, and having Root Beer Float rendezvous. Her last Mother’s Day was shared with Stacey, and Mom-Mom adopted a baby doll she named “Lily Ann” Hilton. All the Pocopson Home Nurses are familiar with baby Lily Ann.

Mom-Mom, a beloved matriarch, is survived by a son, David Donald Guest, and numerous grandchildren, including Jessica, Melissa, Amanda, Patricia, Kimberly, Stacey (wife of Ian Buck), and many more adopted over the years. Great-grandchildren Chloe, Cody, Hadyn, Bently, Tobias, and a sister, Joan Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom-Mom was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Jean Singleton and Debbie Lee Hilton, and two grandchildren, Robert Shawn Hilton and Shannon Marie Singleton, and siblings: Irene, Harold, Ida, Eleanor, Edna, Junior and Harry.

Graveside services will be held privately at Fairview Cemetery, located at 786 Oaks St. in Coatesville, PA. Mom-Mom’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Senior Care at PA/Guardian Services of PA, Pocopson Nursing Home, and Willow Tree Hospice for the compassionate love and care they provided to Mom-Mom during her stay.
