Obituary

Scott Robert Eckert was born on October 6, 1934 in Albany, New York and grew up in New York and Pennsylvania.  His father was a housing manager for the FHA so the family moved as he was assigned to various projects.  He had two brothers and a sister all of whom predeceased him.

Before he was 10, he responded to an alter call at their C&MA church but lacking grounding in the faith, spent the next 20+ years going his own way. He experienced much of the ups and downs of that lifestyle (including divorce and remarriage) until the Hound of Heaven brought him to the Savior. Even then, it took several years to respond to the Reformed Faith and receive an understanding that brought his belief to a more mature reading of the Scripture.

At an early age, he joined the Marine Corps serving for three years.  He was able to see much of the world during his service spending 14 months in Korea (less one week R&R in Japan) and also duty with the Second Fleet and Sixth Fleet participating in NATO joint exercises.  This included stops in Denmark, Scotland, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Algiers.

After his discharge, he moved to Kansas, married resulting in two lovely daughters and worked for the post office for 10 years during the day and going to school in the evening.  After finishing school, he moved back to Pennsylvania and eventually worked as a consultant for about 35 years.  For about 25 of those years he was a member of the Olive Street Presbyterian Church (formerly Immanuel Presbyterian) in Coatesville, Pennsylvania.  To whom he owes much of his growth in the grace and loving fellowship.

In 2012, he moved to Texas to be close to his family and was also blessed to become a member of the Spiritual family at Town North Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Weaver an JoAnn Farriell; three grandchildren, Kyle Weaver, Angela Campbell and Allen Farriell; 10 great grandchildren; step-daughter Debra Montgomery and her husband Matt and their daughter Chloe, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services are being planned and will be posted once finalized.
