Obituary

Samuel J. Softchin Jr., of Georgetown Delaware, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on June 28, 2026. He was 78 years old. Sam was originally from Parkesburg Pennsylvania, where he lived most of his life, but also lived in Florida for a period of time.

Throughout his life, Samuel exemplified dedication and a strong work ethic, most notably during his thirty-year tenure as a cranerunner at Lukens Steel. Beyond his career, Samuel was known for his active lifestyle and enthusiasm for life’s pleasures. He found great enjoyment in the game of golf and also appreciated the thrill of a good casino visit. Samuel’s commitment to supporting veterans led him to become a member of both the Parkesburg VFW and the Christiana American Legion, organizations through which he built camaraderie and contributed to his community. He was also a proud member of the Coatesville Polish Club.

Samuel’s legacy endures through the family he cherished. He is survived by his sons, Fred Good (Kristie) of Oxford Pennsylvania and Sam Softchin Of Delray Beach Florida; his sister, Sherry Mowday (Dennis) of Delaware; his sister, Sandra Smith of GAP; his brother, Nicholas Softchin (Patricia) of Atglen Pennsylvania; and his grandchildren, Sam Softchin and Isabella Softchin of Delray Beach Florida. Each of them carries forward his memories and values. Samuel is predeceased by his father, Samuel Softchin Sr.; his mother, Lillian Nancy Peace Softchin; and his sisters, Linda Lookabaugh and Lillian Helm.

A private Service will be held at a later date.
