Obituary

Ruth Ione Mowday, age 87, peacefully departed this life at home on October 26, 2026. Born and educated in the community she loved, Ruth completed her schooling at Octorara High School. For 16 years, from 1964 until 1980, she dedicated her talents as an inspector at Bentley Harris Manufacturing Company and served diligently as the secretary of Local Union 390.

For 66 beautiful years, Ruth was the devoted wife of John D. Mowday. Together, they built a family full of love and laughter. She is survived by her cherished children: Vicki Lynn Mullen, Joseph M. Mowday and his wife Jacki, and Kimberly Ann Anderson. She is lovingly reunited in spirit with her beloved eldest son, John D. Mowday Jr., and her cherished son-in-law, Robert Anderson Jr., forever held close in love and memory. Ruth's legacy lives on in her 12 beloved grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with her warmth and kindness. Her surviving brother, Joseph Smith, and his wife Mary, remember her with love, as do nieces and nephews joined in memory of siblings Clifton W., Kenneth Warren, Donald Young, Howard E., Nancy L. Smith, and Linda S. Rutledge.

A faithful attendee of Central Baptist Church, Ruth's heart was always open to those around her. She welcomed everyone with a meal and a nurturing spirit, helping those in need without hesitation. Her faith and compassion were a testament to her love for the Lord and her community.

Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a beacon of light to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, and we take comfort knowing that heaven has gained an angel.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main Street, Parkesburg, PA. Visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service. Interment will be at Upper Octorara Cemetery.
