Obituary

Robert Trowbridge passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, in Lakewood, NJ, just one day before his 91st birthday. Born on May 5, 1935, in Philadelphia, PA, Robert’s life was a tapestry woven with artistry, dedication, and cherished relationships but mostly his deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

A proud veteran of the Army, Robert’s disciplined spirit and commitment to excellence and devotion to God carried through into his professional career. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Penn State University and the Philadelphia College of Art, institutions that helped shape his unique eye for design and innovation. He worked tirelessly as a Graphic Artist to provide for his family. You would recognize some of his designs/layouts such as Levitz and Hershey Park. He brought stories to life through imagery, contributing greatly to Philadelphia’s cultural and commercial landscapes

His belief in God carried him through many difficult times. He served God by running the Junior Church Services where he captivated all the kids with his imagination and artistic works. Bob and Bev made Junior Church actually lots of FUN!

After 45 years of impactful service in the creative field, Robert enjoyed eleven fulfilling years of retirement—a time dedicated to reflection, family, and the simple joys that life offered.

He is survived by his son, Brad Trowbridge, and daughter, Bobbi Parks, who both carry forward his legacy of passion and creativity. He was a devoted grandfather to four grandchildren and a beloved great-grandfather to two, each of whom brought immense joy to his later years. Robert’s close family circle also includes his brothers Bart of Warminster, PA, David of Cleveland, OH, Todd of Blue Springs, MO and Stephen of Timonium, MD, all of whom shared a lifelong bond with him.

A note from his brother Steve:

Bob filled his younger brother's lives with a special sweet love. Always there with guidance, fun and leadership. I have memories of Bob helping Dad supervise dismantling the screen porch at our family home 2210 Anthony Avenue and hauling the screens and heavy metal furniture to their winter storage in the garage and attic.

Bob is remembered as a gentle soul focusing attention on his love of art. One day Bob surprised us with pencil drawings of our favorite cartoon characters all over the wall of our bedroom. Mother waited weeks before repainting the room.

Our basement became Bob's studio. He worked feverishly on a large textured mural of brick buildings and landscape for one of his college projects. The Ping-Pong table was covered with art supplies including dozens of small tubes filled with oil paint, which was a temptation for his two younger brothers and their friends. Never a memory of Bob losing his cool.

Bob was a devout Christian, He spread his love of Christ to young and old. He has now to enjoy an eternal reward for his service to the Lord.

His personal life was marked by meaningful relationships, including his first marriage to Beverly Beacher and his second wife Eve Trowbridge, both preceded him in death. Robert was born to William T. Trowbridge and Rachel Stickney, both of whom have also passed on, yet their influence resonates through the family they raised.

Robert's passing is a poignant moment for all who knew him—a creative soul whose warmth, discipline, and generosity touched many lives. His journey reminds us of the power of dedication to one’s craft, the importance of family, and the quiet beauty of a life well-lived. Those who had the privilege of knowing Robert will carry his memory forward, honoring the art and heart he shared so freely.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 18th, 2026 from Faith Community United Methodist Church in Atglen, PA located at 332 Chester Street, Atglen, PA 19310 with visitation beginning at 9:00am and the memorial service to follow starting at 10:00am.
