Peggy Sue Teter, 76, of Chester County, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, surrounded by her family. Peggy faced her final days with the same determination that carried her through life, holding on and fighting until the very end.
Peggy was born on March 11, 1950, in McMinnville, Oregon, to Maxine McVaugh (Sammons) and Scott McDowell. She lived in Chester County her entire life.
Peggy is survived by her children; Allen Moffat (Sandra), Michael Moffat, and Kelly Moffat; her grandchildren, Sam Moffat, Makayla Moffat, and Colby Moffat; and her siblings, Sandra Scott (James), Cindy Sammons (John), David DiFilippo (Arlene), Joni Borrelli, Tim DiFilippo (Sharon), and Dana DiFilippo, along with several nieces and nephews.
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Maxine and Don McVaugh; her father, Scott McDowell; and her stepfather, Joe DiFilippo.
Peggy’s children meant everything to her. She was a loving mother who cared deeply for those around her. She was always ready to offer a helping hand, whether it was asked for or not. She knew her own mind and was never afraid to speak it. She had a personality all her own and was always true to herself. She treasured her three grandchildren and the special place they held in her life.
Peggy enjoyed cooking and was known for some family favorites, including her lasagna, bacon gravy and biscuits, and her Thanksgiving dinners.
She found joy in the simple things. She loved trips to the beach and spent many summers along the Chesapeake Bay. She enjoyed nature and being outdoors, taking great pride in her gardens and bushes and spending her summers keeping them beautiful. She especially loved fresh daffodils, bunches of lilacs, and her rose bushes. She was also a Philadelphia Phillies fan and enjoyed following the team.
Christmas was especially meaningful to Peggy. She loved her many Christmas ornaments and looked forward to decorating a big Christmas tree each year. Her beloved animals, including Shilo and George, also held a special place in her heart.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no formal service. She will be remembered with love by all who knew her.
