Obituary

Paul Edward Pfitzenmeyer born February 17, 1939 on Waterworks Road in Wagontown, West Caln township passed away on February 22, 2026, just five days after his 87th birthday. He attended school in Honeybrook ultimately graduating from Scott High School in 1957. He started his career at Acme markets who held his position when he was drafted into the U. S. Army. After marrying Betty Ann Osborne of Caln, the couple lived in Frankfurt, Germany for nearly two years.

Life returned to normal once they were stateside again. Paul continued to grow his career at Acme which he retired from in 1995. Paul had varied interests in which he served the community; a police officer for West Caln as well as a member of the zoning board and township supervisor, eventually serving as the head of the emergency services for the township. Paul’s legacy includes being one of the founders of Layton Park and one of the initiators of the Westwood Ambulance being stationed at Wagontown Fire Company.

He was a life-long member of the Wagontown fire Company and president of the Wagontown Hunt Club. In addition to being a 63-year member of Brandywine Goddard Masonic Lodge No. 383 in Coatesville he was a member of Rajah Shrine Temple, Reading after achieving his 32nd Degree.

A devoted family man, Paul shared almost 63 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Betty. His extended family was extremely important to him be it at the mountain house or hunting, snow mobiling or traveling around the world. Paul collected life-long friends where ever he went.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Paul E. Pfitzenmeyer and Harriet Thompson Pfitzenmeyer whose love and guidance undoubtedly nourished him throughout his extraordinary journey. He is survived by his wife Betty Pfitzenmeyer of Wagontown, a son Kenneth Hawk of South Carolina, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Carol Osborne of Downingtown. His cousin Dave Pftizenmeyer and numerous other cousins and “nieces and nephews” are a valuable part of his extended family. He especially enjoyed preseason Eagles practices with them.
