Paul L. Jones, Jr.

Paul L. Jones Jr., 83 of Oxford, PA, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Nancy L. Trimble Jones with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. Born February 9, 1942, he was the son of the late Paul L. Jones Sr. and Ethel Biddle Jones.

When Paul was 10 years old he was sent to live with his grandparents to help on their farm. When he turned 16 he found employment as a commercial truck driver. Later, he learned carpentry, construction, and excavating while working at H.W. Booker Construction of Delaware.

He started attending the Concord Baptist Church of Delaware in 1972 because of the bus ministry that was picking up his kids. It was through Concord Baptist that he came to know Christ as his Savior. In 1974, he sustained a disabling work injury when he fell off a roof. God led him to pursue ministry and become a pastor. He and his family relocated to Fairfax, Virginia so he could attend the Atlantic Baptist Bible College. He and his family served at the Bethlehem Baptist Church while in Fairfax, Virginia. He graduated from Atlantic Baptist Bible College in 1977. God led him to Pomeroy PA and he founded Central Baptist Church in Pomeroy in 1977 and served the community for 37 years, retiring in 2014. He served many families in the community not only at the church but at Wilde funeral home by officiating funeral services.

His hobbies and other occupations besides Pastor, included finish and rough carpentry, woodworking, gardening, computer repair, and cooking. He used his skills to help others.

Paul loved and trusted his Lord and Savior and shared the good news of the Gospel with everyone he knew. He was a friend to many and will be missed but we rejoice in knowing he is with his Lord and Savior.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by one son, Donald W. Jones and wife Stephanie of Coatesville, PA. Four Grandchildren; Adam, Molly, Natalie, and Lisa; two great-grandchildren, Carson and Teagan, and two sisters; Nancy and Ann. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Jones, a son, Fred L. Jones and a daughter-in-law, Kathryn A. Jones.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank Brandywine River Valley Hospice staff for taking such good care of Paul.
