Norris J. Shirk, Sr

Beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, Norris J. Shirk, 83, of York, PA, formerly of Gordonville, and Gap PA, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 4, 2025.  He was the married to the love of his life, Darlene L. (Perry) Shirk for over 62 years.  Born in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of the late William W. and Marian I. (Mulvaney) Shirk.

Norris was a 1960 graduate from Scott High School in Coatesville and worked at the former Lukens Steel Company for 40 years.  After he retired, he worked for the Pequea Valley School District in the maintenance department.  He was a very active member of the Modena Fire Company. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Coatesville before transferring to Bellevue Presbyterian Church in Gap, PA, where he served on the welcome team for several years. He was an avid reader who shared the books, newspapers, and magazines he read with any others who would have them. Travel was a favorite past-time that he enjoyed with mostly his dear wife, and also family and friends. His granddaughters and great grandchildren were his great joy in life. His smile always was brighter when they were around. 

Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Denise (Russel) Denning of York, PA, their children Andrea Denning, Rachel(Alan) Harbold, great grandsons Easton and Jameson; and N. John (Kristine) Shirk of New Holland, PA, their children Katelyn (Jesse) Thomas and Allison (Emily) Hayes; siblings, Brian (Elsie) Shirk and Vincent Shirk, both of Florida.  He was preceded in death by siblings,  Lois, Lora, Bernie, Sandy, Bill and Margie.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Bellevue Presbyterian Church, 810 Newport Ave., Gap, PA, with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.  To make a donation please click the link below.
