We are saddened to announce the death of Mark Thomas Townsend, 62, of Parkesburg, PA, suddenly on Monday, September 1, 2025. Born in West Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Rosemary (Ryan) Townsend.

He is survived and will be dearly missed by his ex-wife, Shara Townsend of Coatesville, PA, his children, Morgan Townsend (Jackie McGinley) of Levittown, PA, and Sydney Townsend of Arlington, VA; sisters, Linda (Ben) Marshall of Ormond Beach, FL; Marie Townsend (Wayne Jessop) of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; sister-in-law Joanne Townsend of Panama City Beach, FL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by siblings Joseph (2017) and Lois (1979) Townsend.

Mark was a graduate of Bishop Shanahan High School and for many years enjoyed being with people, his family and friends while boating, camping in RVs and riding  motorcycles.  He  became a master auto technician and skilled diagnostician working for over 30 years for Toyota. Mark retired from the auto tech industry in 2020 and decided his next pursuit was living on his 45-foot sailboat. He had been travelling the East Coast of the US between Chesapeake Bay and the Florida Keys since 2021, doing what he felt like, when he felt like it.

Mark was a unique personality, a loving family man, a loyal friend and stubbornly independent. He will be missed by many friends, neighbors and acquaintances who were fortunate enough to have spent some time with him.

A Celebration of Life is being planned and when the details are completed, the information will be posted here. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to your charity of choice.
