In Loving Memory of Makayla Marie Russum

May 24, 1994 – October 15, 2026

Makayla Marie Russum, 32, of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026. Though her time with us was far too short, Makayla leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories, a love that will never fade, and a lasting imprint on the hearts of all who knew her.

Makayla is lovingly survived by her parents, Tammy Russum and stepfather Brian Reynolds, and her father, Brandon Simmers; her beloved son, Vincent “Vinny” Russum, who was her entire world; her siblings, Anthony Russum and Bethany Reynolds; her maternal grandparents, Irving and Patricia Russum; and her paternal grandmother, Cheryl Simmers. She is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Makayla attended Coatesville Area High School and Harcum College. Throughout her life, she enjoyed many things that brought her happiness, from cheering for DWY during her younger years to cooking, eating, listening to music, having fun, and spending quality time with the family and friends she loved so dearly.

One of Makayla’s favorite places was the beach, especially her family’s camper in Delaware. She lovingly called it her “home away from home” and her happy place—a special place where she could relax, make memories, and enjoy the simple joys of life.

Above all else, Makayla’s greatest love was her son, Vinny. He was her heart, her pride, and her world. The love she had for him was immeasurable, and the bond they shared will forever remain a beautiful part of her legacy.

Those who grew up with Makayla will fondly remember her love for The Wizard of Oz, a movie she enjoyed so much that she would have the whole family watch it over and over again. It was one of the many little things that made Makayla uniquely herself and created memories her loved ones will carry with them forever.

Makayla was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, James and Kathryn Russum; her paternal great-grandparents, William and Dolores Simmers; her aunt, Tina Simmers; and her baby cousin, Brittany Russum.

Though we must say goodbye for now, Makayla’s memory will live on through her son, her family, her friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved her. She will forever be remembered, forever missed, and forever loved.

Until we meet again, Kayla. Your life was a gift, your love was a blessing, and your memory will remain in our hearts forever.
