Lewis E. Powell, 91, of Brethren Village, Lititz, PA passed away at his residence on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Fay LaRue Warner Powell with whom he shared 69 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of the late Charles H. Powell and Permelia Pacquin Powell.
Lewis was an area resident most of his life. He proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed for 34 years by Philadelphia Electric Company as gas foreman, detailer and also gas inspector. After his retirement from Philadelphia Electric Company, God called him into pastoral ministry. As an ordained pastor, he served Church of The Brethren and United Methodist churches.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two children, Deborah L. McCormick and her husband Patrick of Cochranville and Donald H. Powell and his wife Joan of Narvon, PA; 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one sister Bella Urban of Rising Sun, MD. He was preceded in death by one son Lewis E. Powell, Jr.
Lew’s passion for football in high school led him to playing in the United States Armed Forces Europe Football League while in the Air Force in France, which he reminisced about often. He was very skilled in building, construction, and remodeling homes and other projects. He was also a coordinator for Church of the Brethren Disaster Relief efforts. He and Fay enjoyed spending time in the mountains with family and friends and had a heart to serve those in need. Lew loved to laugh and banter with folks. His deepest passion was to share the Gospel message of Jesus with those around him.
