Kimberly Austin, lovingly known as Kim, a beloved member of her Knob Hill community and a cherished matriarch of the Austin family, passed away surrounded by her close family on April 3, 2026, at Paoli Memorial Hospital, following a sudden and severe illness.
Born on April 26, 1948, Kim lived a life defined by love, family, and service to others. Kim was never one to tell anyone how to live their life—or to let others tell her how to live hers. She had a rare gift for conversation and could easily connect with anyone she met.
An avid collector of antiques and thrift store finds, Kim enjoyed keeping up with the latest TV shows (especially House Hunters and game shows) and countless movies and held strong—and accurate—opinions on all of them. Kim would tell you if you were having a bad hair day, and you knew she was right and thanked her for saying so.
A graduate of Octorara Area High School, Kimberly worked in a variety of roles throughout her life, including as an office administrator at Action Manufacturing Co. in Atglen; a daycare assistant at Wagontown Chapel Daycare; and, most recently, as a health aide at Hickory House in Honey Brook. Kim was also a dedicated volunteer at Steeple to People in Honey Brook, where she delighted in sharing stories about her thrifting finds and the “treasures” others donated. Her warmth, kindness, and spirited personality left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Kim is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Austin, with whom she shared more than six decades of love and partnership, their daughter Tara Weaver (née Austin), and her brother Douglas Warner. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Becky Thompson and Tina McMinn.
Her family circle extended with joy to her only granddaughter, Natalie Paiva, and Natalie’s husband, Anthony, whom Kim loved as her own grandson. She is also lovingly remembered by countless cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will dearly miss her presence and cherish her memory.
Kim’s life was a testament to fun, love, dedication to others, and a true sense of humor. She will be remembered not only for the impact she had on her family, friends, and community, but also for her gentle, welcoming nature. Those who knew her will forever hold the memories of her spirit close to their hearts.
A memorial service celebrating Kim’s life will be held at Wilde Funeral Home in Parkesburg on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in her memory.
