Joan L. Wright (Shank)

Joan L. Wright, 65, of Coatesville, PA, formerly of Parkesburg, PA, passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Born in Coatesville she was the daughter of Martha Criswell Shank of Parkesburg and the late Carl F. Shank Jr.

Joan graduated from the Octorara Schools and worked in childcare. She attended the Parkesburg Methodist Church.

Joan enjoyed being out in nature visiting Holtwood, Muddy Run and various other parks, as well as trips to Sea Isle City, NJ. She would take her dog, Alexis, for walks through the woods next to the quarry where they could both explore. She looked forward to annual Pow-wows and collected various Native American items and rocks. In her younger days she enjoyed going to concerts and went to many. Her love of music ranged from heavy metal to soothing hymns. 

Besides her mother, Joan is survived by her children, Sara Wright of Marietta, PA, Daniel Wright and David Riffey both of Coatesville, and Emily Riffey of Parkesburg, grandchildren, Ryan Sherman of Bloomsburg, PA, Evan Ramon of Lancaster, PA, Liana Sanchez of Marietta, Dante M. Wright of Quarryville, PA, and Cameron H. Wright of Coatesville, great-grandchildren, Jayli Sherman of Reading, Zaiden Ramon and Qayden Ramon both of Lancaster, and siblings, Charles Shank, Carl F. Shank III, Cynthia D. (Bruce) Roberts, and Susan L. Donia all of Parkesburg.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday May 28, 2025 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family for funeral expenses.
