Jewel E. Strause

Jewel E. Strause, 93, of Coatesville, passed away peacefully at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA and on to Her permanent Home with Jesus Wednesday, January 28, 2026. She was the wife of the late William L. Strause who served in the Air Force in the 50's. He passed in 2003. They shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Maxwell Calvert and Ethel Clements Calvert.

A Devoted, Caring & Loving Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother. Jewel was an area resident most of her life. She was employed, for 33 years, by Penguin Industries of Coatesville as a Fulfillment Specialist.

Her first employment was at the Sears & Roebuck Co. Philadelphia, Pa in 1950.

She was a member of the Calvary Fellowship Church of Downingtown, PA. for over 20 years.

Mom Loved going to the beach and eating at many places throughout the years. She loved listening to music. Country, Hymns and especially the 50's. She belonged to the Willie Nelson fan club for many years and got to meet him several times!

Jewel also Loved to Read. She carried the Readers Digest or the Guidepost with her to read while at home, traveling and on 'work break.' She also read her Bible the Fish Wrapper & did Word Searches daily. She also enjoyed Board Games Trivia, Bingo & Game Shows.

Mom/Grandma Loved Flowers  & Animals of all kinds. 

Jewel had a Caring & Giving Heart ❤️ She gave to many friends, family & charities throughout her life!

Her favorite hobby was to take photos. Pictures of everything from family events such as trips, vacations & Every holiday to simple things in Life. Literally over a thousand! With her wish being for them to be viewed by Family and Friends as to be able to look back on for many years to come.

Jewel was loved by All. She said "God Bless You" to Everyone she met 😇

She is survived by three children; Carol Grace Strause Houck, Eve Strause Deck and Adam Strause and wife Karen, devoted daughter-in-law Nancy Strause, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her son William R. Strause, granddaughter Jennifer Draucker Ray and son in-law Clyde J Deck Jr.

Great granddaughter Milleah Ray is thanked by family for her 24/7 care allowing Jewel to be at home in her final days.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, PA with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by interment at the Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer, PA.
