Jerry Randell Smith, 85, of Downingtown, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 20, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Bonnie L. Mattson Smith with who he shared almost 37 years of marriage. Born in Crossville, TN, he was the son of the late Edward Smith and Angie Wyatt Smith.
Jerry was an area resident most of his life. He was employed as a mechanic and service advisor at several auto dealerships through his career, until he retired in 2005. Described as a simple man, Jerry loved his family, Nascar, and fishing. He was known to have a sweet tooth, snacking on his favorite candies, honey, jellies, and water ice as often as he could. He could often be found riding around on his tractor and tinkering with projects around the house.
He is survived, by his wife; Bonnie L. Smith of Downingtown, four children; Keith S. Smith and wife Melissa of Pottstown, PA, Troy Smith of Birdsboro, PA, Kimberly M. Pencak of Pottstown, PA and Laura Smith of Lincoln, DE, three stepchildren; Constance E. Roberts of Downingtown, PA, Jennifer L. Looper of Lilburn, GA and Donna J. Looper of Stockbridge, GA, 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and two siblings; Margaret Sergio of Delray, FL and Ronald Smith of Ashville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by one son Tracy Smith, two grandsons Trevor Smith and Dustin Smith, one brother Larry Smith and two sisters; Betty Miller and Joyce Becca.
Viewing and visitation will be held at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 25, 2026, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
