Janice Wittmaier, a devoted nurse, compassionate volunteer, and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026 in West Chester. Born on August 26, 1941, Janice dedicated her life to caring for others and enriching the lives of those around her.
As an accomplished nurse, Janice worked diligently in hospitals and provided private duty care, demonstrating unwavering commitment and kindness to her patients. Her professional career was a testament to her nurturing spirit and her steadfast desire to make a positive difference in the health and well-being of others.
Janice was a cherished member of Calvary Chapel in Chester Springs, where her faith was a central part of her life. She generously volunteered with pet therapy services, sharing her love of animals and bringing comfort and joy to many. Her compassionate nature extended beyond her professional and volunteer work; she was always willing to open her home to those in need, offering shelter and support to individuals without a place to live.
A lover of music, Janice found joy in playing the piano and singing, talents that brought delight not only to herself but also to family and friends. She embraced the outdoors with enthusiasm, enjoying hiking and camping adventures that reflected her vibrant spirit and appreciation for nature's beauty.
Janice’s warm heart and gentle presence will be deeply missed by those who knew her. She is survived by her daughters Cynthia Hoopes (wife of Steven), Julie Fuchs (wife of John), three grandchildren (Justin, Jenna, and Jacie Fuchs), and her brother Carlton Heston. All remember her kindness, generosity, and the many ways she touched their lives. In addition to her parents (Edward and Adeline Heston) and husband Herb Wittmaier, she was preceded in death by her brother Edward Heston III and her son Craig Wittmaier.
Her journey left a legacy of compassion, service, and music. Janice’s life serves as an enduring example of her faith in Jesus, love given freely, and a spirit that uplifted everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
Services will be held on Friday, June 19th, 2026 at 11:00am at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA with visitation from 10am to time of service. Interment services will be private at the request of the family.
