Ilene L. Franklin (Please Note Service Change To January 30, 2016)

Ilene L. Franklin, 78, of Parkesburg, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Neighborhood Hospice Center of West Chester.  She was the widow of the late William Franklin, who passed away in 2003 after they had shared 44 years of marriage.

Born in Perry Township, Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late Lucille (nee Barnes) and Robert Holler.  She was a resident of Parkesburg since 1959, having grown up in Perryopolis, PA.

Ilene graduated from Montifiore Hospital School of Nursing of Pittsburgh in 1958 as a Registered Nurse; in 1994 she graduated from Eastern University with B.S. degree in Nursing; and in 1998 she became a Certified Addictions Registered Nurse.

She was a employed as a RN at Brandywine and Coatesville Hospitals from 1959 to 1983, and as a Psychiatric / Addictions Counseling Nurse at the V.A. Hospital of Coatesville from 1983 until her retirement in 2003.

Ilene was a member of the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church of Atglen, where she served as a Church Elder and Deacon, was a longtime member of the Choir and served on numerous committees.

She is survived by her three children: Dawn Kyte, wife of Oliver, of Bradenton, Fl., Kelly Bashore, wife of David, of Parkesburg, and Janell Franklin of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Jacob Bashore, Hannah Bashore and Marina Kyte; and her sister-in-law, Betty Neuhauser of Palmyra, PA.

Ilene was predeceased by her brother, Robert Holler.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11 AM at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Glen Run Cemetery of Atglen.  The viewing will be from 10 until 11 AM.
