Harold Markwood Wilson

June 8, 1936 — October 9, 2023

Harold M. Wilson, 87, of Coatesville, passed away at his home on Monday, October 9, 2023. Born in Chester County, he was the son of the late Harry F. Wilson Sr. and Martha (Stanley) Wilson. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Y. (Taylor) Wilson with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.

Harold served in the United States Navy on the US Naval Carrier Forrestal. In his earlier years, Harold was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed racing as part of the local “Piston Poppers” motorcycle club. As a lifelong, avid outdoorsman, Harold spent his free time hunting and fishing in Saxton, Pennsylvania. Harold and Barbara relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1984, where they lived for 15 years. He continued his appreciation of fishing by spending countless hours on his boat in Tampa Bay and Edmont Keys. He retired from the Pinellas County School District in Florida in 1997 and returned to reside in Coatesville. He later resumed employment and later retired from Bulldog Construction Company in Westwood, Pennsylvania.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Deborah L. (Wilson) Murr, wife of Dr. George A. Murr, III, of Bakersfield, CA, and Tonya J. (Wilson) Swartz, wife of Richard A. Swartz, of Largo, FL, nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all.

He was preceded in death by four siblings.
