Geraldine Catherine Holl, 89, of Parkesburg, PA, left us peacefully on May 15, 2025, surrounded by her family. A beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, Geraldine "Gerry" will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, love, kindness, generosity, determination, and strength.
Born on October 6, 1935, in Parkesburg, PA, Gerry was the only daughter of Raymond and Ann Barnes and sister to her younger brother, Michael. Gerry spent her entire life in her hometown, Parkesburg, a place she cherished, and she never wanted to live anywhere else. As a young lady, she enjoyed singing, especially in the church choir, dancing, and shopping trips. Gerry attended church dances even though she was very shy. At one dance, she met Arthur Joseph Holl, "Art" or "Artie", an Army veteran who had just returned from the Korean War. Handsome and charming, Art managed to sweep bashful Gerry off her feet. Six months later, on May 21, 1955, Gerry married the love of her life. For almost 40 years, they shared a wonderful life full of love, romance, laughter, and happiness. Gerry's life revolved around the people who mattered to her the most - her husband, Art, and her family. She was a powerful role model, always helping others, even strangers. She loved gardening, shopping, spending time with her family and friends, large family gatherings, and eating dinners out, especially at her favorite restaurant, Rocco and Anna's. Gerry touched many people's lives in so many wonderful ways. She was a true example of how to live with grace, and we will miss her dearly.
Gerry is survived by her daughters, Ann Voynow, her husband, Bob, Priscilla Jordan, her husband, Barry, Karen Worst, her husband, Dave, her son, Arthur Holl, his wife Linda, as well as her grandchildren: Gregg Stanley, his wife, Beth, their children, Cole Jordan (CJ) and Shea, Ashley Smith, her husband, Taylor, their children, Mackenzie, Avery, and Riley, Mistin Evans, her husband, Chris, their children, Macie and Remi, her brother, Michael Barnes, his wife, Linda, their daughter, Chrissy Shaw, her husband, Travis, their son, Gavin and his daughter, Eve. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Joseph Holl.
A service to celebrate Gerry's life will be on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, 603 W. 2nd Avenue, Parkesburg, at 10:30 AM with visitation starting at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church at the above address.
