George F. "June" Dunlap, Jr., 88, of West Caln, passed away on Monday February 2, 2009 at the Hickory House of Honey Brook. He was the widower of the late Agnes Wertz Dunlap.
Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late George F. and Roberta Buck Dunlap.
George lived in the area all his life, graduating from Coatesville High School in 1938. He proudly served during W.W.II with the Army Air Corp in the Burma, China Theater. He was a self-employed carpenter with Dunlap Builders. George was a member of the Wagontown Union Chapel. He was a charter member and past President and Trustee of the Wagontown Fire Co. and a member of the Christiana American Legion.
He enjoyed being with his family and friends.
He is survived by two children, Gary Dunlap, husband of Kathi, of West Caln and George F. Dunlap III, wife of Gerry of Wagontown; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Jesse and Christopher, fiance of Shannon; one great, granddaughter, Hailey; and two brothers, C. Ira Dunlap of Coatesville and J. Gordon Dunlap of Christiana. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Miller.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 11 AM at the Wagontown Union Chapel, 469 W. Kings Hwy. Wagontown, PA, followed by interment in the Fairview Cemetery of Coatesville. The Viewing will be held at the Church on both Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 PM and again on Thursday morning from 10 AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Wagontown Chapel or the Wagontown Fire Co.
