Obituary

Ernest Marenco, beloved husband of Margaret (Polk) Marenco whom shared 55 years of marriage, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his love ones in Gap, PA, on June 28, 2026. Born on October 13, 1947, in West Chester, PA. He grew up in Toughkenamon Pa.  All who knew Ernest knew his warmth, kindness, and distinctive sense of humor.

Graduate of Kennett High School, Ernest's strong work ethic and dedication guided him through 30 years as a steel worker for G.O. Carlson.

Ernest honorably served his country in the United States Army, reflecting the deep sense of responsibility that guided his life. His service stands as a testament to his character and devotion to others.

Outside of his work and service, Ernest was a man of varied interests and passions. He loved antique cars, the thrill of car racing, and he found joy in hunting. These hobbies brought him not only enjoyment but also a lifelong connection to friends and family who shared in his enthusiasm. If you knew Ernie, you knew he loved to tinker with anything he could get his hands on and make it his own one of a kind.

Known for being kind and loving, Ernest had a remarkable ability to bring laughter and joy into every room. His great sense of humor touched those around him and will be dearly missed.

Ernest’s legacy is most clearly seen in his cherished family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret Marenco; his loving son, Brian Marenco husband of Melissa (Lee) from Unionville and his daughter, Kelly (Marenco) Thompson wife of Damon from Lancaster. He also leaves behind his adored grandchildren: Nicole Marenco, Madison Marenco, Brandon Marenco, Bre Thompson, Laila Thompson, Gia Thompson, and one great granddaughter that is due this fall.

Ernest Marenco’s life was a tapestry woven with dedication, service, humor, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, whose lives are forever enriched by his presence.
