Obituary

Elsie Rae Jordan, 90, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at her home in Atglen, PA. Born on April 19, 1935, in Chesterfield, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Neelie Mae Oliver. Elsie lived a full and vibrant life that left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A cherished homemaker, Elsie was the glue that held her family together. She graduated from high school in Ruby, SC, and carried with her the values of hard work and dedication, manifesting in every meal she prepared and every story she shared. Her southern cooking was legendary, with warm biscuits, cornbread, and delicious chicken salad that brought comfort to all who gathered around her table.

Elsie's interests were as rich as her cuisine. She found joy in walking through nature, getting lost in the pages of books, and nurturing her beautiful garden. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel, creating cherished memories that she would recount with delight, sharing her adventures with her family. Above all, Elsie loved caring for her family, often putting their needs before her own and filling their lives with love and compassion.

She is survived by four children; Ronald D. Jordan, and his wife, Sheryl of Gap, PA, Donna Sue Oliver, and her husband, Gene of Jefferson, SC, Robin G. Schenk, and her husband, Eric of Atglen, PA and Jeffrey D. Jordan of Atglen, PA. Elsie’s legacy continues through her loving grandchildren: Matthew Jordan, Bridgette Jordan, Sarah Jordan, Amanda Cobb, Mel Oliver, Miranda Sullivan, Jeremy Jordan, Justin Caffrey, Kyle Caffrey, Matthew Caffrey, Heather Caffrey, Holly Jordan, Zachary Jordan, and Mary Jordan. The laughter and smiles of her great-grandchildren will forever echo the love she bestowed upon her family.

Elsie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Jordan Jr., her sister, Gale Steen, two children; James Jordan and Carolyn Hanna, along with her son-in-law, John Hanna and two grandsons, Scottie Hanna, and Bradley Jordan. Each of these cherished individuals was an integral part of her life, leaving behind a legacy of love and memories.

While Elsie's earthly presence will be greatly missed, her spirit will forever linger in the hearts of those who loved her. Each memory shared, every meal enjoyed, and the warmth of her love will carry on through her family, a lasting testament to a life wonderfully lived. She was not just a good mother and grandmother but a bright light in the lives of all who were fortunate to know her. Rest in peace, dear Elsie Rae Jordan. Your love will continue to bloom in the hearts of your family for generations to come.
