Elaine J. Tyson, 85, of Thorndale, PA passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Ronald P. Tyson with whom she shared 57 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2024.

Born at Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA; she was the daughter of the late George D. and Jeannette Hadfield Reynolds.

Elaine, an area resident all her life, was a 1957 graduate of the former Scott High School in Coatesville where she perfected her secretarial skills and was a member of the Glee Club.

Her first employment opportunity was with the former Lukens Steel Company as a secretary to the Office Supervisor for 10 years. After taking a break to raise her children, Elaine obtained a position as a teacher’s aide at CAT Brandywine working for the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) for 5 years. In 1986, she advanced to the position of secretary to the Director of Compensatory Education. In 1993 she received the CCIU Employee of the Month Award and in 1996 she received the CCIU Outstanding Service Award for demonstrating excellent customer service. Elaine retired from the CCIU with over 20 years of service.

Elaine had a love of baking and in 1986 she entered Community Services Publishing 6th Annual Cookbook Contest held at the Windmill Restaurant in Morgantown, PA. She won first prize in the dessert category and went on to win the Grand Prize with her family recipe for Southern Chess Pie.

Elaine loved playing board games and card games and more times than not would win the game. She had a passion for tracing her family’s genealogy and their roots in Quaker society. She loved flowers and her favorite color was pink.

Above all else, Elaine loved her family and will be greatly missed by all of us.

She is survived by her daughter Carole Turansky and her husband Jim, son Ron Tyson, grandchildren Amanda Tyson, Jonathan Tyson and Emily Tyson and her brother Bruce Reynolds. She is predeceased by her brothers George D. (Helen) and Randall L. (Barbara) Reynolds.

In accordance with Elaine’s wishes, there will be a private graveside service at Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery, West Chester, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilde Funeral Home in Parkesburg, PA.
