Dr. John W. Hagen, 96, of Parkesburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in Lancaster, PA. He was the husband of the late Bonnie (Kreider) Hagen of 42 years and the late Caroline Kirk Hagen of 20 years. Born in Rawlinsville, Lancaster County, PA, he was the son of the late Oram and Margaret (Stokes) Hagen.
John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from York Junior College and Franklin & Marshall College. He then graduated from Temple Dental School and worked as a self-employed dentist for 66 years at his practice, Opera House Dental in Parkesburg before retiring in 2020. He was a member of the Lancaster Church of the Brethren Choir and sang with the Lanchester Chorus.
John served on the Octorara Area School District school board + was school board president for 20 years.
John is survived by his children, Dr. Dirk (Ann) Hagen of Bethany Beach, DE, Sally (Francis) Mazzola of Yountville, CA, Bradford K. (Susan) Hagen of Parkesburg, PA, and Laurie H. (Jay) Rhodes of Conestoga, PA, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mary Ann McCleneghan of Manheim, PA.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster, PA, 17601, at 11:00 a.m. The family will greet guest at a luncheon in the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lancaster Church of the Brethren Organ Fund at the above address. The family requests that you please refrain from purchasing flowers, gifts, and planting trees in John's honor and that all donations please go to the church organ fund.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
