Doris B. Baumbach, 97, of New Holland, PA passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at the Garden Spot Village in New Holland where she resided for the past 30 years. She was the widow of Jack Markley Baumbach who died in 2006. They shared 50 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late David Clark Cleaver and Mabel Buchannan Lynch Cleaver.
Doris was a graduate of Glassboro High School in Glassboro, NJ. She continued her education at the Drexel Institute of Technology graduating in 1950 with a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce. She was employed by Smith Kline and French in Philadelphia as a business manager and later, she was employed at the Washington Memorial Chapel as manager of the Chapel Cabin Shop, Valley Forge, PA.
While at Garden Spot, she was involved in the Information Desk, Care & Share shop, and Counted Cross Stitch club, as well as making many crafts, Christmas trees, jellies, jams, bread, and apple dumplings to benefit the Benevolent Fund
She was a member of St. Peters by the Sea Episcopal Church, Cape May Point, NJ, the Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge, PA and more recently she attended the Bangor Episcopal Church in Churchtown, PA. for the past 30 years.
She is survived by one daughter Carol B. Lawrence and husband Jeffrey L. Lawrence of Hatfield, PA, three grandchildren; Timothy R. Lawrence of Landsdale, PA, Jacob A. Lawrence and wife Meghan McGovern of Sellersville, PA and Jennifer Baumbach Ebersole and husband Chaz Ebersole of Mohnton, PA, two great grandchildren; Chloe Ebersole and Carver Ebersole, and one brother John Cleaver of Shannondel, Audubon, PA. She was preceded in death by one son Clark C. Baumbach and her twin sister Virginia Cleaver Gotchel.
Memorial services will be held on Friday June 19, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Bangor Episcopal Church, 2099 Main St. Narvon, Pennsylvania 17555 with visitation at the church from 10:00 AM to the time of the service. A reception and luncheon will be hosted at Garden Spot Village immediately after the church service.
In place of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Benevolent Fund at Garden Spot Village, 433 South Kinzer Ave., New Holland PA 17557-8761 or to Bangor Episcopal Church, 2099 Main Street, Narvon PA 17555.
