Donald L. McGinnis Sr, a cherished member of the Coatesville community, passed away at his home in Coatesville, PA, on March 29, 2026. Born on December 29, 1947. The son of the late Ralph Norman and Dorothy Bryson McGinnis. Donald devoted his life to his craft and his family, leaving behind a legacy marked by kindness, warmth, and a remarkable sense of humor.

Donald’s passion for automobiles, particularly Plymouth cars—from Barracudas to Roadrunners— Was well known among his family and friends. Donald was employed for 35 years at Barnett's Service Station as an auto mechanic which brought him immense joy throughout his life. Donnie enjoyed watching football especially the Eagles, country music and hunting with his sons and brothers, he also loved getting together with his family and friends to play poker. 

Those who were fortunate enough to know Donald remember him as a kind and welcoming person who always made others feel at ease. His great sense of humor was a bright light in many lives, providing comfort and laughter even in challenging times.

Donald is lovingly survived by his wife, Helen Zemacke McGinnis who shared 60 years of marriage; his son, Stephen McGinnis; 4 four grandchildren; Donald III, Annmarie, Daniel, and Stephen Jr. and his siblings Evelyn of HoneyBrook, Helen wife of David Sanchez of Coatesville, Deborah wife of William Underwood of Elizabethtown, William (Billy) of Coatesville, Paul husband of Maryann of Coatesville. They along with many friends and community members, will carry forward his memory and the warmth he so generously shared.

He is proceeded in death by his two beloved children Stacey Lynn McGinnis and Donald L. McGinnis Jr. Two sisters and four brothers; Dawn "Cissi", Roxanne, Ralph Jr "Butch", Marvin "Jack", Dennis, and Barry. Four Nephews and four Nieces; Ralph III, Richard "Dicky", Brian, Eddie III, Audrey "Chippie", Lisa, Jackie, and Marilyn.

Donald McGinnis’s life was one of devotion—to his family, his work, and his passions. His loss leaves a profound void, yet his spirit endures in the hearts of those who loved him. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him.
