Dennis W. Dougherty Sr.

Dennis W. Dougherty Sr., 83, of Parkesburg, PA, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 29, 2025. He was the husband of Judy Hoffman Dougherty for over 58 years. Born in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of the late James D. and Sarah Syphard Dougherty.

Denny worked in the metallurgy lab at the former Lukens Steel Company for over 39 years. At the same time, he created his own business to repair large and small appliances. Post retirement he worked for Brian Norris maintaining waste water treatment plants. Throughout the years, Dennis served as Trustee, Elder, and Sexton of his church as well as serving as a leader in the Boy Scouts troop 135.   He was a member of the Parkesburg United Methodist Church. Dennis proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

Besides his wife he is survived by his sons, Dennis (Kristen) Dougherty Jr. of West Chester, PA, and Tim (Wendy) Dougherty of Christiana, PA, grandchildren, Kelsie Turner (Brent), Kiersten, Katie, Abby, Hadley Levinson, and a brother, James D. Dougherty.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. from the Parkesburg United Methodist Church, 411 Main St. Parkesburg, with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkesburg United Methodist Church (PUMC) or Octorara Area Food Cupboard.
