Obituary

David Troop loved life and fought for every ounce of it. His final challenge was completed after a 15-month battle with pancreatic cancer on September 29th, 2026 surrounded by his family and friends and into the realm of our God.

Born in Lancaster County to Harry and Dorothy Troop, he was baptized in the Catholic church and attended Stillwaters Presbyterian Church in Chester County. He was a resident of Cochranville, PA and was a 1976 graduate of the Octorara School District. He was fortunate to attend their 50 year class reunion this past month.

David had many adventures that include, but were not limited to, wrestling; and later coached the sport at Octorara School District. This came close-second to his lifelong love of cycling. The people he met on these exploits were the greatest trophy he could have never wished for.

He was a lifelong dairy farmer and also sold and repaired farm equipment for the company that his father began in 1975. He considered it a privilege to work with other farmers and help them maintain and improve their equipment.

David is survived by his wife of 50 years, Becky Thompson Troop, his three sons, Jeremiah (Sharline) Troop, Micheal (Audrey) Troop, and Zach (Leigh Ann) Troop. Five grandchildren: Myah (Drew) Horst, Austin (Alivia) Troop, Maverick Troop, Lily Troop, and Stella Troop, and 2 great-granddaughters.

Also surviving him are his sisters Jeanette (Jeff) Swartzentruber of Paradise, PA, Diane Michalski of Cochranville, PA, and Joyce Ray of Portland, OR.

Funeral services will be held at the Troop family farm, 210 Troop Road, Cochranville, PA on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Visitation will start at 9:00AM followed by the service at 11AM. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
