David L. Bingaman, 77, lovingly known to many as “Double D,” passed away in West Chester on September 17, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born on April 4, 1949, in Coatesville.

David was a warm and memorable presence whose gift for conversation made him easy to know and hard to forget. If you knew David, you knew he loved to chat. He could talk to anyone about anything, and over the years he made friends from all walks of life. He loved music and dancing, enjoyed WWE wrestling, and cheered on the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies with enthusiasm. Trains were his passion, especially The Big Boy! He attended The Church of Christ in Ercildoun and found joy in simple favorites, especially fried chicken, buttery mashed potatoes, and cheese pizza.

He received his early education at Devereux Day School. In his working years, David was employed by Handy Crafters in Thorndale for a few years. He also worked alongside his brother Don for their good friend Pete for 16 years, where he learned many handyman skills.

David’s interests brought him lasting happiness. He enjoyed Legos, puzzles, and listening to music. Among the accomplishments that gave him special pride were building Lego towers as tall as he was and completing a 150-piece puzzle by himself. He loved walking through town, striking up small talk along the way, and often ending up at Scott Field to watch baseball games. When August arrived, it was a sure sign that David would be at his beloved Old Fiddler’s Picnic at Hibernia, a tradition he enjoyed for 20 years.

He will also be remembered for his sense of humor and the way he made people smile. Dave loved making his own jokes, especially his favorite: “What did one truck driver say to the other truck driver?” followed by the familiar punchline, “It won’t be long now!” It became his signature, and for those who loved him, it remains a tender echo of his playful spirit.

David is survived by his siblings Catherine Winnemore, and Donald Bingaman, with whom he shared a lifelong family bond as the youngest brother in the family. He is also survived by a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Also 2 fur companions, Roxi & Nova. Those who knew David through his family will remember the affection, familiarity, and connection that surrounded him throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Bingaman; his mother, Marguerite Miller; his sister Shirley, his brother Harry and his niece, Kimberly.

David will be remembered for his friendly conversation, his love of laughter, his delight in music and community, and the many small but meaningful joys that filled his days. His memory will live on in the stories he told, the smiles he shared, and the lasting affection of those who knew and loved him. Services are as followed for Saturday October 3,2026. Visitors may start to arrive from 9:30-11 to receive the family.
