Obituary

Danielle Marie Hayes, 41, of Atglen, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 13, 2026. Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of Valerie Ramsey of Nottingham, PA  and the late Edwin Hayes Sr. She was a graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High School, Class of 2003, and York Technical Institute, where she studied business.

The majority of her career was spent in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Her first job, while still in high school, was at the VIP Diner in Coatesville, where she worked as a busgirl and hostess. With her bubbly and dynamic personality, she quickly became one of the community’s most beloved servers and bartender. No matter where she worked, she built an incredible following of loyal customers. Most recently, she was employed at Magerk’s in Exton as a bartender and assistant manager. She was a master of her craft and a mentor to many. She also previously worked in various nursing home facilities, providing the very best care to her elderly clients—always with compassion, kindness, and love.

Danielle was a talented athlete, playing basketball, softball, and cheerleading during her school years, and she was also a Softball All-Star at Caln Little League. She shared her love of sports by coaching and supporting her children, nieces, and nephews in all their activities, including lacrosse, wrestling, football, boxing, softball, cheerleading, baseball, and track. She never missed an opportunity to attend dance recitals, school concerts, and theater performances. She also enjoyed watching Philadelphia sports teams and the sport of MMA.

From the day she was born, Danielle had a natural beauty that could light up any room. She loved music—and oh, how she loved to dance. If there was a dance floor, she was on it, getting the party started. She often made dance videos online with the kids, creating joy and laughter. Danielle was adventurous and embraced life fully, always sharing those experiences with others. Many cherished memories were made during trips to Punkin Chunkin, Zern’s, Green Dragon, Kitchen Kettle, the Lunch Box at Renninger’s Market, Cabela’s, White Castle, and Kitchen Kettle Village, just to name a few. She loved good food, especially seafood, and her car seemed to have an autopilot to North East, Maryland. She found peace near the water—whether at the beach, the bay, or a quiet creek. Fun-loving and spontaneous, she was known to load up the kids and just go. She was hardworking and resilient; despite the many challenges she faced—more than her fair share—she somehow managed to hold everything together.

The number of chosen family members and friends she gathered over her 41 years is immeasurable. She loved her people fearlessly, without reservation—and definitely without a filter. She spoke her truth and never believed in sugarcoating. She was a true “ride or die,” especially for her “tribe.”

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her greatest accomplishments and the undeniable loves of her life—her children: Kaine Kofroth, Odin Kofroth, Hazel Madrigale, and Ivey Madrigale. She is also survived by her brother, Edwin Hayes Jr. of Parkesburg, PA; her nephews and niece, Jordan, Eddie, and Hadleigh Hayes, whom she treated as her own; her former husband, Roy Kofroth of Glenmoore, PA; her aunt, Karen Brown of Narvon, PA; and her uncles, Chuck Wedgewood (Regina) of Haughton, LA, David Ramsey of Reading, PA, Scott Ramsey (Rose) of Coatesville, PA, and Eric Ramsey (Kat) of Lancaster, PA. She also leaves behind a multitude of cousins, extended family members, and those she considered family, including her dear friend, Eugene.

She was predeceased by her father, “Big Ed”; the father of her daughters, Nicholas Madrigale; her paternal grandmother, Edwina Wedgewood; her maternal grandparents, Jane and Dick Ramsey; her aunt, Connie Ramsey; and her great-great-aunt, Gladys Stevens, whom she lovingly called “Nan” and who played a significant role in her life.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Parkesburg United Methodist Church, 411 Main Street, Parkesburg, PA 19365, at 1:00 pm   Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until the time of service.
