Clifford W. Smith Jr., 75 of East Fallowfield, passed away at his home on November 4, 2025.
Clifford had a way with words that left a lasting impression. He was unapologetically himself-steady, genuine, and true to who he was. He had a remarkable gift for making people feel important, valued and heard, and he was able to give wise advice drawn from his life experiences.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, fearlessly walking point in combat. He was injured by a booby trap and was sent to Hawaii for recovery before returning home to Pennsylvania. His bravery and dedication were recognized with the Combat Infantry Badge, Air Medal, Bronze Star for Valor, Purple Heart and Army Commendation Medal.
Clifford worked in a wide range of fields throughout his life. He was a railroad conductor, a nuclear welder for PECO, a land-clearing business owner, and a gas station owner. His last and most loved business was running a hardwood flooring company, where he became well known for his skill in the historic restoration of old hardwood floors.
Clifford had a deep love for motorcycles- especially riding his Harley Davidson with the love of his life, Vicki, on the back.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Victoria K. Hocker Smith; his son Alexander Smith and wife Heather of West Chester, PA; five grandchildren-Taylor, Gianna, Ryder, Trey and Crew Smith; and his siblings Scott F. Smith, Rich L. Smith, and Janice Wohlenhaus.
He was preceded in death by his son, Clifford W. Smith III, whom he missed dearly.
Clifford will be remembered for his strength, his honesty, the way he lived life entirely on his own terms, the extraordinary way he made everyone he met feel important, and the wise guidance he shared with those who sought his council. His spirit, his stories, and his love will forever live on in those who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15th, 2025, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. with memorial service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Coatesville Country Club, 143 Reservoir Road, Coatesville, PA 19320.
