Obituary

Bonnie Ford, a devoted nurse, Christian, and cherished family matriarch, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Born on September 6, 1958, in Lancaster, Bonnie's life was a testament to service, dedication, and compassion. 

A 1976 graduate of Octorara High School and the Brandywine School of Nursing, Bonnie pursued a career in nursing with unwavering commitment and grace. After a fulfilling career at Pocopson Nursing Home, she retired and remained deeply engaged in her community and family.

Bonnie’s dedication extended beyond her nursing career. A lifetime member of the Christiana Fire Hall, she was an active and passionate supporter of local volunteerism. She was also president of Sharline's Office Interiors and SOI Construction. Bonnie was a a devout member of the Latta Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she found spiritual solace and fellowship.

She delighted in crocheting baby blankets and sewing. Bonnie also enjoyed competitions of jeopardy, checkers and cards. Fishing and thrift shopping were among her cherished pastimes, often enjoyed during quality time spent with family and her beloved dog, Honey. Above all, Bonnie’s greatest joy was her family whom she supported tirelessly, always ready to lend a helping hand or her one listening ear. Volunteering and assisting others embodied her lifelong commitment to kindness and generosity.

Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, John R. Ford. She is also survived by her daughter, Sharline M. Troop and son-in-law Jeremiah, along with their children Myah, Austin, and Maverick. A great-granddaughter, Leighton, and another great-granddaughter is due soon. Bonnie’s family circle also includes her step-daughter Jennifer A. Jacobs and her husband Steven, along with their four daughters and four grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters Janet E. Root and her husband Joseph, Susan M. Stanley and her husband James, and Mary A. Schreyer, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Family friends Shawn and Kenny who will also remember her warmth and guidance.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred W. Becker Sr. and Bertha M. Slaymaker, her brothers Fred W. Becker Jr. and Ronald A. Becker and her stepson Richard S. Ford, whose memories she held dearly.

Bonnie Ford’s life was a remarkable journey marked by selflessness, strength, and an enduring spirit. She enriched the lives of all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her impact will forever remain vivid in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.
