Albert W Bernard III, age 87, of Coatesville passed away peacefully in his sleep at Harrison House.
Albert was born November 26, 1938, to Anne Berry (Irwin) and Albert Bernard Jr. Albert proudly served in US Army as a Corporal, he served as a Military Policeman from March 17,1957 till February 28, 1961. His primary duty assignment was to Clark Air Base in the Philippines, in his spare time he enjoyed horseback riding and enjoying a few San Miguel beers. Upon his return to the US he was briefly assigned to the US Army in Virginia.
After his honorable discharge Albert worked at Lukens steel company from 1961 until in his retirement in 2000. In his spare time he served the Chester County Little League community for years as a coach and official. He was especially proud of his contributions in scheduling many tournaments for Caln Township and other area Little Leagues.
Albert was a member of Wagontown Chapel for all his adult life. Albert married Nancy Jane Pratt at the Chapel in 1960, they were happily married for 63 years until Nancy preceded him in death in 2023. He is survived by his children Alan (Lori), Susan (Donn), Kevin (Ana) brother Ronald Bernard and sister Peggy Ann.
Albert and Nancy lived in West Caln for 58 years, raising their three children. They also shared many wonderful times on the same piece of land with Nancy's parents, William and Mary, and her brother Bill and his wife Judy Pratt.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren Erik (Valerie), Amanda (Koby), Emily (Adrian), Rachel (Ned) and 5 great grandchildren: Harrison, Theo, Elizabeth, Romee, and Owen. All the grand and great-grand kids loved spending time with their beloved Pop-Pop.
He loved playing golf, often traveling great distances to do so. There was no greater fan of Philadelphia sports than Albert. He watched every Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers game that he could. He was also a huge fan of the NCAA Final Four tournament, March Madness.
The extended Bernard family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all who cared for Albert the past few years. The caregivers at Paoli Hospital, “His Girls” at Tel Hai Nursing Home and Harrison House. A special thank you to Barb Domhson who cared for our Dad until the very end.
There will be a graveside service on Thursday, July 2nd at Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church, East Earl, PA at 2 pm.
