Vernon Lee Ream

Vernon Lee Ream, 64, of West Brandywine, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 at the Coatesville VA Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Beth Anne Good Ream with whom he shared 31 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Aaron and Elsie McFadden Ream. 
Vernon was a 1967 graduate of the Pequea Valley HS. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and went on to serve, with distinction, in combat in Vietnam receiving the Vietnam Gallantry Cross. 
Vernon was employed most of his life as an electrician and worked at Sonoco Products in Downingtown and retired from Phillips Mushroom Co. of Kennett Square.
 
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two sons; David Ivey and wife Sheri of Coatesville and Michael Ivey of Honey Brook, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two sisters; Jesse Gallup of Northumberland, PA and Bonnie Shimko of Ronks. He was preceded in death by three siblings; Lori Howell, Tim and David Ream.
 
 Memorial services will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 3:30pm at the Wagontown Fire Company, 412 W Kings Hwy, Coatesville, PA 19320. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to The ALS Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter

To The Vernon Ream family, We had the pleasure of knowing and working with Vern at Phillips Mushroom Farms. We are saddened by the news of his passing. He was an outstanding person, co-worker and mostly a friend, he was well loved by his co-workers. He was extremely talented and had an amazing work ethic, he was a teacher to many of us and an excellent example. We offer our condolonces and love to the Ream family.
